We're MPQV Group LLC, doing business as Gallium Digital ("Gallium Digital", "we", "us", or "our"), a Texas limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information in connection with our website at https://www.moderncsv.com, our desktop application Modern CSV (the "Application"), purchases of a License, and related support.

Personal information is information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. That can include your name, email address, device or usage data, and similar details.

This policy should be read with our Terms and Conditions, our License Terms, and our Cookie Policy. For purchases made through Paddle, Paddle also processes information as described in Paddle's Privacy Notice.

Your Files Stay on Your Device

Files you open, edit, or export in the desktop Application remain on your devices unless you choose to send them to us (for example, when reporting a bug or attaching a file to a support message). We do not claim ownership of your data files. Modern CSV license keys work offline and do not require the Application to stay connected to our servers.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

We collect information you submit through our website forms, email, phone, or similar contact, including:

  • name and email address;
  • the content of your message, feature request, survey response, or bug report;
  • files you attach;
  • company name or phone number, if you provide them;
  • and a license key or order number, if you include one so we can help you.

You do not have to provide personal information. If you do not, we may be unable to respond, deliver a License, or run a survey drawing you want to enter.

Information from the website

When you visit our website, our servers and service providers may automatically collect log and usage data. That can include IP address, browser type and version, device information, pages visited, referring URL, date and time, and approximate location derived from IP address. If an error occurs, we or our providers may also log technical details about the error.

We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Our site uses a cookie consent tool from GetTerms and analytics and related tags through Google Tag Manager, which may load Google Analytics and other Google services depending on your cookie choices.

Information related to a License

After a qualifying purchase, we keep records needed to issue and support the License. That typically includes your email address, the License type, the license key, and related order or fulfillment details.

We may also collect usage metrics, service interaction patterns, and operational data in connection with our website and Services, and we may aggregate or anonymize that information for analytics, research, and product development. Aggregated or anonymized data that cannot reasonably identify you is not personal information under this policy.

Information we receive from others

Paddle and, for some other-channel purchases, our payment partners may send us information needed to fulfill and support an order, such as your name, email address, organization, country, and what you bought. They do not send us card numbers for Paddle checkout transactions.

If you mention us on a public website or social network, we may see that public information.

Purchases, Paddle, and Payment Data

Most paid orders are completed through Paddle, our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. For those purchases, you buy from Paddle. Paddle and its payment partners collect and process payment information — including card or other payment-method details — as independent controllers, for checkout, invoices, tax, fraud prevention, refunds, and related purposes. We do not receive, store, or process card numbers for Paddle purchases. How Paddle uses buyer information is described in Paddle's Privacy Notice.

For purchases completed through other channels we expressly offer, such as a purchase order, an invoice we issue, or a bank transfer, we are the seller. We or our payment partners for that transaction (which may include processors such as Stripe or PayPal) collect the payment information needed to complete it.

How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to:

  • operate the website and provide the Application and License;
  • deliver license keys and help with installation, lost keys, and product support;
  • respond to questions, bug reports, and feature requests;
  • process or help process orders, refunds, and related accounting, including by instructing Paddle on Paddle purchases;
  • maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors;
  • understand how the website and Services are used and improve them;
  • run optional surveys, including gift-card drawings described below;
  • send service messages about your License, an order, or a request you made;
  • send marketing or product-update emails if you have agreed to receive them, or as otherwise permitted by law, with an unsubscribe option;
  • and comply with law, enforce our Terms and License Terms, and protect our rights and those of our users.

We do not use your CSV files for marketing, analytics, or product training unless you choose to send a file to us, and then only to handle that request.

Surveys and Gift-Card Drawings

We sometimes invite users to complete a survey about Modern CSV. As an incentive, we may offer a chance to win a gift card in a drawing. Participation is optional and is not required to buy or use the Application.

If you take part, we use your survey responses to improve the product and your contact details to run the drawing and notify a winner. You may skip the survey, decline the drawing, or ask us to withdraw you and delete your survey response.

The value of taking part, if a drawing is offered, is the chance to win the gift card described in that invitation. We do not require you to agree to extra uses of your information beyond running the survey and drawing and improving the product.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember consent choices, and understand site usage. Some cookies are set by us and some by third parties, including GetTerms and Google. You can manage non-essential cookies through the cookie consent tool on our website and through your browser settings. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

Who We Share Personal Information With

We share personal information with service providers who help us run the business, and only as needed for their role:

  • Paddle — reseller and Merchant of Record for most paid orders; payment, tax, invoices, and refunds;
  • payment partners for other-channel purchases — which may include Stripe or PayPal;
  • Google — Tag Manager, Analytics, and related tags, depending on your cookie choices;
  • GetTerms — cookie consent;
  • Cloudflare, Netlify, and Heroku — hosting, content delivery, security, and form processing;
  • Zoho Mail, EmailOctopus, and Brevo — email and, where you have agreed, marketing mail;
  • professional advisors, such as lawyers or accountants, when needed;
  • and authorities, courts, or other parties when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or security.

If we sell or transfer the business or its assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. Our website may share identifiers and usage data with analytics or advertising partners through cookies if you allow those cookies. You can refuse or withdraw that through the cookie consent tool. We do not share personal information with unaffiliated companies so they can market their own products to you, except as you would reasonably expect from those cookie tools.

How Long We Keep Personal Information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including:

  • support and contact records while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterward so we can follow up;
  • License and related purchase records for as long as the License may be used and as needed for tax, accounting, and legal records;
  • survey and drawing records for the drawing and for a reasonable period of product-improvement use, then we delete or anonymize them;
  • and website analytics according to our vendors' settings and your cookie choices.

Paddle keeps payment and invoice records for Paddle purchases under its own policies. We may keep information longer if the law requires it, or if we need it for a dispute, security investigation, or to enforce our Terms or License Terms.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

The Application does not require an online account or a password on our servers. You are responsible for keeping your license key and any copies of your files under your control.

Children

Our Services are intended for users aged 18 or older, as described in our Terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not direct the Services at children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe we have, contact us using the details below.

Your Choices and Rights

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in the message or by contacting us. We may still send non-marketing messages about an order, License, or request you made.

You may ask us for access to personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, subject to legal limits. You may also object to or ask us to restrict certain processing, or ask for a copy of information you provided to us, where the law gives you that right.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity. You may also complain to a data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

We will not deny you the Application or charge you a different price solely because you exercised a privacy right, except where the information is needed to provide what you asked for (for example, an email address to send a license key or to enter a drawing).

Additional Disclosures for U.S. State Privacy Laws

If you live in a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain sharing of personal information, and to use an authorized agent. This section applies to residents of those states to the extent those laws apply.

Notice of collection (California and similar laws)

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories, where you or our providers actually give them to us:

  • identifiers, such as name, email address, IP address, and license key or order identifiers;
  • commercial information, such as License type and purchase or refund history;
  • internet or electronic activity, such as website browsing and cookie data;
  • geolocation at a coarse level derived from IP address;
  • and inferences or survey responses if you take a survey.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or credit or debit card numbers for Paddle checkout. For other-channel purchases, our payment partners — not our website forms — handle payment-method data. We do not collect a shipping address, because the product is a digital License.

Sources, purposes, and recipients are described in the sections above. We collect this information to provide and support the Services, improve them, run optional surveys and drawings, communicate with you, and meet legal obligations.

Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow analytics or advertising cookies, we may share identifiers and usage data with Google and similar partners for analytics or cross-context advertising. You may opt out through the cookie consent tool on our website. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Do Not Track

Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" setting. We do not currently respond to those signals. The cookie consent tool is the way to control non-essential cookies on our site.

California Shine the Light

If you are a California resident and your relationship with us is mainly for personal, family, or household purposes, you may request information about personal information we disclosed to other organizations for their direct marketing in the previous calendar year. To ask, contact us with the subject line "Request for California privacy information." You may make this request once per calendar year. We do not share personal information with unaffiliated third parties for their own direct marketing other than through cookie tools you can control.

Survey gift-card drawings

An optional gift-card drawing for completing a survey is a chance to win the gift card stated in the invitation, in exchange for the survey responses and contact details described above. You may refuse or withdraw as described in "Surveys and Gift-Card Drawings."

Additional Disclosures for the EEA and United Kingdom

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, MPQV Group LLC, doing business as Gallium Digital, is the controller of personal information we collect as described in this policy. Paddle is a separate controller of buyer payment and checkout data for Paddle purchases.

We process personal information on these legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the License, deliver a key, and support the Application when you have a contract with us, or to take steps at your request before that;
  • Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the website, understand usage, improve the product, and communicate about requests you made, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
  • Consent — for non-essential cookies, marketing emails, and optional surveys or drawings, where we rely on consent; you may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out;
  • Legal obligation — when we must keep or disclose information to comply with law.

We are based in the United States. Personal information is processed in the United States and by the vendors listed above, which may be in the United States, the United Kingdom, the EEA, or other countries. Paddle's processing of buyer data follows Paddle's terms and privacy notice. Where we transfer personal information from the EEA or UK to a country that is not covered by an adequacy decision, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, unless another lawful transfer mechanism applies.

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection, and data portability, as provided by those laws. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (www.ico.org.uk).

Additional Disclosures for Australia

If Australian privacy law applies, we collect and use personal information as described in this policy, including disclosure to overseas vendors in the United States and other countries listed above. You may contact us to access or correct personal information we hold about you, or to complain. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Additional Disclosures for Canada

If PIPEDA or other Canadian privacy law applies, we collect, use, and disclose personal information with your consent or as permitted by law, for the purposes in this policy. We are based in the United States and use service providers outside Canada, including in the United States. Those providers may not be subject to Canadian law.

You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, and you may withdraw consent for optional uses such as marketing or a survey drawing, subject to legal or contractual limits. We do not charge a fee for ordinary access requests. Contact us using the details below. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will post the updated policy at this page and change the "Last updated" date. If the law requires it, we will ask for consent or give you a chance to opt in or opt out of a new use of personal information.
